Representative from "LOVE" - Leave Out Violence
Loretto College's ESP committee along with the help and support of our 13th division liaison officers present an event that will bring some of our fellow Secondary schools together as a community to raise awareness on School Violence. It is in the context of respect and positive attitude that the schools participating in the "Give Peace a Dance" project will collaboratively send the message that the violence in our school communities need to end, and that we as teenagers are the ones who CAN make a difference. Ultimately it is the students who will be the best facilitators and ambassadors of the shift towards peaceful schools.
Our Goal is simple. We hope this project will hold real promise and a positive move forward. We ask our students to look into their hearts and ask them selves whether or not they would like to see our schools become safer, healthier places to learn and flourish for everyone.
Some of the proceeds from this event will go towards LOVE - Leave out Violence a non-profit organization that helps youth who have lived with violence end violence in their lives, and then become community leaders of violence prevention. The proceeds will also go towards safe school projects initiated by Loretto's ESP student committee members. One of the projects focuses on working with intermediate elementary school girls around issues of female bullying/violence.
